 What is Juvederm Voluma XC?

Juvederm Voluma XC is a hyaluronic acid filler that is approved by the FDA for treating volume loss in the midface due to aging. “XC” denotes that this product is mixed with Lidocaine (a local anesthetic) to help minimize any discomfort associated with this non-surgical procedure. With optimal treatment, natural-looking results can last up to 2 years.

How is Juvederm Voluma XC different from Juvederm Ultra and Ultra Plus XC?

Juvederm Voluma XC is a hyaluronic acid filler similar to Juvederm Ultra & Ultra Plus XC, however, due to differences in cross-linking, the Juvederm Voluma XC has greater viscosity and is more suitable for injection into the deeper tissue for areas such as the midface. Juvederm Ultra and Ultra Plus XC are less viscous and are ideal for use in areas such as the lips, nasolabial (creases that extend from the corner of your nose to the corner of your mouth) and glabellar (the area between the eyebrows) wrinkles.

How is Juvederm Voluma XC delivered?

JUVÉDERM VOLUMA™ XC is injected under the skin with a small needle or cannula and it works instantly to add volume to the cheeks. In so doing, it helps create a more youthful appearance and it helps diminish the wrinkles on the face.

Is this procedure painful?

Dr. Sian may pre-inject the access point with local anesthesia or use topical anesthetic to numb the areas ahead of time. To further reduce pain during the procedure, JUVÉDERM VOLUMA™ XC contains a numbing agent called Lidocaine. After the initial injection with JUVÉDERM VOLUMA™ XC, the local anesthetic contained within the product should start working and this results in the numbing of the area being treated.

How long will the results with JUVÉDERM VOLUMA™ XC last?

The results achieved from the procedure may last up to 2 years with optimal treatment. Results may vary depending on multiple factors which include but is not limited to: severity of the volume loss, the quality of the skin, amount of product used and the extent of correction achieved during the initial procedure.

Injections with Juvederm Voluma XC are performed by Dr. Sian himself, not by nurses or physician assistants.
